At a specific customer request, we designed a so-called crucible change furnace and afterwards added this furnace design to our portfolio. This type of induction furnace combines the features of a crucible melting furnace and a lifting crucible furnace. It is used when different alloys need to be melted in rapid succession in a single furnace vessel. A standard prefabricated crucible is lowered into the furnace chamber via a bottom cylinder, clamped in place, and sealed at the top with a sealing cord against the coil's leveling compound. Once the crucible's contents have melted, it can be tilt by hydraulic, just like in a conventional induction furnace, with the prefabricated crucible remaining in the clamped position. When a change of alloy is required, the clamp is released and the sealing cord is removed. The prefabricated crucible is lifted via the bottom cylinder and removed, and the next prefabricated crucible for the next alloy can be inserted. The entire process of changing the prefabricated crucible takes only a few minutes. | |
